    “Sumubada: White Paddle” is a madang-geuk (open-air folk theater) inspired by the 1923 Jinju Equality Movement against hereditary discrimination. Centered on the friendship and solidarity between White Paddle, the son of a butcher, and Kang Sang-ho, it portrays both the setbacks and the hopes of a struggle for liberation from caste and a shared yearning for a fairer world.
