Introduction
“To My Son” dramatizes the life of Hyun Miok, an independence activist and socialist. Born in Hawaii, she journeys across the United States, China, and North Korea, and, branded an “American spy,” faces the threat of political purges. Framed as letters to her son, the play lays bare her choices and the unforgiving currents of her time.
