Introduction
The dance piece 〈Nyeong (寧), The Prince's Path〉 showcases the essence of Korean contemporary dance, recognised for both its artistic merit and production quality.
It unfolds the tale of three princes seeking to reject a throne won through bloodshed and its accompanying fate, expressed through five distinct dance movements: sword dance, hanryangmu, monk's dance, taepyeongmu, and salpuri. Eight male Korean dancers meticulously realise the aesthetics of tradition upon the stage.
Based on the historical narrative of the Joseon royal court, this Korean contemporary stage production, which preserves the essence of traditional dance while breathing contemporary life into it, is writing a new chapter in the K-Movement, aspiring to reach global stages beyond Korea. -
